Most gutter problems do not require full replacement. Leaking joints, dripping unions, sagging brackets and minor cracks in UPVC sections are all repairable in a single visit — typically at a fraction of the cost of re-running the system. We always give you a repair option where one exists, with a clear price, before any work begins.
Our approach: If a repair will last as long as a replacement in your situation, we recommend the repair. We do not upsell replacements to inflate job value.
The most frequent repair across GU14, GU11 and GU51. UPVC gutters expand and contract with temperature — over time the rubber gaskets inside union pieces compress and fail. A dry-weather drip from a specific point after rain is almost always a failed joint. Minor seepage can often be addressed with sealant during a clean; a failed gasket or cracked union needs the fitting replaced, which takes under ten minutes.
Gutters require a slight fall toward the downpipe. When brackets fail or pull away from the fascia, sections sag and pool water — breeding moss and causing further blockage. We replace the bracket, check fascia board condition, and reset the fall angle. Where the fascia board has softened due to water exposure, we advise on this before re-fixing.
UPVC becomes brittle with age and UV exposure and can crack if struck. Short cracks can be sealed temporarily but a cracked section will typically fail again within a season. We recommend section replacement and carry standard lengths in half-round, square and ogee profiles, cut to size on site.
Many properties in Aldershot GU11 and Farnham GU9 retain original cast iron guttering. Cast iron requires a different approach — specialist mastic for joints, wire brush and rust inhibitor for surface corrosion, bitumen paint for protection. We carry appropriate materials and do not recommend replacing cast iron with UPVC on heritage properties without checking planning requirements.
