Fascia & soffit cleaning

What your fascias say about your property.

Fascias and soffits are exposed constantly to damp, mould spores, algae and the overspill from gutters. Even well-maintained properties accumulate green algae and black streaking on fascia boards over time — particularly on north-facing elevations and under nearby trees. Because we are already working at the roofline for a gutter clean, adding a fascia wash is efficient and transforms the appearance of the roofline at relatively low additional cost.

UPVC fascias and soffits

UPVC provides enough surface grip for algae and mould spores to take hold over time. The black streaking commonly seen below gutters is a combination of algae growth, oxidised sealant and atmospheric soiling. We use a low-pressure biocidal wash — not high-pressure jetting, which can force water behind boards and strip sealant from joints. The result is white UPVC restored to near-original appearance with residual biocide that slows re-growth.

Timber fascias and soffits

Many properties in Farnham GU9, Aldershot GU11 and older parts of Farnborough retain painted timber fascias. Timber requires a gentle biocidal wash — we do not pressure-wash timber roofline boards as the risk of water ingress and paint lifting is too high. During the clean we note any areas of paint failure or soft wood and advise as part of the job completion note.

When should fascias be cleaned?

Most properties benefit from a fascia clean every two to three years, timed to coincide with a gutter clean. Properties in shaded positions or close to trees may need more frequent attention. The most common trigger we see is pre-sale preparation — a clean roofline makes a visible difference from street level at low cost.

Damage reporting: If we find cracked, loose or rotten boards during the clean, we photograph them and note them in the completion report. Fascia board replacement is a carpentry job — we advise clearly and provide photographic evidence for your records.

FAQ

Common questions.

Yes — this is the most common way it is done. Because we are already at the roofline for the gutter clean, adding a fascia wash is efficient and cost-effective.
No, provided the correct method is used. We use low-pressure biocidal wash, not high-pressure jetting. UPVC can be damaged by inappropriate pressure-washing — we do not use that approach.
Yes, using a gentle biocidal wash appropriate for painted timber. We note the condition of timber boards as part of the job and advise on any issues found.
Most properties benefit from cleaning every two to three years, timed with a gutter clean. Shaded or tree-surrounded properties may need more frequent attention given the damp local climate.
