SkyVac explained

What is SkyVac?

SkyVac is a professional gutter cleaning system that uses a high-powered vacuum unit with telescopic carbon fibre poles to clear gutters from ground level. The operative stands at the base of the property, extends the pole to gutter height, and uses a vacuum head to extract leaves, moss, silt and debris from the gutter channel without placing a ladder against the building.

The system includes an integrated miniature camera that transmits live footage to a handheld screen, allowing the operative to see inside the gutter in real time and inspect condition as work progresses.

How it compares to ladder-based methods

FactorSkyVac (ground-level)Ladder-based
Risk to propertyNo ladder contact with fascias or roof tilesLadder contact can mark UPVC and damage tiles over time

What the camera provides

The integrated camera serves a practical inspection function. During every clean it gives the operative a clear view of where debris is accumulating most heavily, the condition of gutter joints and bracket fixings, whether downpipes are clear, and any cracking or distortion in the gutter profile. This information is useful for scheduling future maintenance and identifying repairs before they become urgent.

Limitations

  • Very high properties: Effective pole height has a practical limit. Three-storey and above may require supplementary methods.
  • Heavy compaction: Extremely compacted debris or matted root growth may resist vacuum extraction and require supplementary manual work.
  • Internal gutters: Box gutters and parapet gutters behind a parapet wall may not be accessible with a standard horizontal vacuum approach.

We advise before starting if a property's gutters fall outside straightforward SkyVac operation.

Why photo documentation matters

The photographs produced from the camera system have practical value beyond confirmation of a clean. For homeowners, they provide a dated record of gutter condition. For landlords and property managers, they constitute evidence of maintenance and condition relevant to Section 11 obligations, deposit disputes and HHSRS assessments.

If a contractor you are comparing does not offer any form of photographic record, it is worth asking why. The absence of documentation is a relevant factor when choosing between quotes.

FAQ

Common questions.

SkyVac is a professional gutter vacuum system with a telescopic pole and integrated camera. The operative works from ground level — no ladders against the building. It clears debris by vacuum and allows real-time camera inspection of gutter condition.
For most residential properties, yes. It operates from ground level eliminating ladder contact with fascias, provides camera documentation, and generally clears debris more completely than manual scooping.
Standard residential properties up to two storeys are within normal operating range. Three-storey properties and some unusual roof geometries may require supplementary access. We advise before starting where needed.
Photo documentation of gutter condition is provided as part of the service. This is useful for homeowners and essential for landlords and property managers needing evidence of maintenance.
Yes. The vacuum head works on any accessible gutter profile including cast iron half-round and ogee. Cast iron requires different materials for any repairs found, but the cleaning process is the same.
